The perfect husband

Mr. Right

barack obama perfect husbandJust a few days ago, during his talk show on a popular TV Channel, the American political commentator Chris Matthews referred to President Barack Obama as “the perfect father, the perfect husband”.  Set me thinking. How many wives (I mean, not just the ones who’ve managed to stay married to the same guy for decades but also those who’ve dared to get hitched with different guys) can happily say they’ve married the perfect husband? That they’ve found their Mr. Right? I know, I know, different women have a different idea of what the perfect husband should be like. But, no matter if their ideas clash, there are some things that almost all women would just l-o-v-e to hear their husbands say. At least once, if not once in a while.

Well, if your guy isn’t the Mr. Wonderful who says all the right things, here’s a Mr. Wonderful doll who does just that, and without your having to pander to his ego. All you have to do is push a button. I’ve heard it’s become quite a hit with men looking for the perfect gift (only around $60.00) for their wives. You don’t need to be super smart to understand why. I mean, here’s this Mr. Right ready to say all the hard-to-express stuff at the push of a button and save them the bother.

How to be a perfect husband

This cute little fellow actually delivers a tutorial on how to be a perfect husband. So methinks he would make an excellent gift for husbands too, that is, if they can take a hint! Just imagine, if it could get a man to stutter, “OK, I’ll… I’ll stop and ask for dir… directions”, what a great feat that would be!

Well ladies and gentlemen, take a look, and don’t forget to post a comment about your idea of the perfect husband, OK?

I’d have paid attention if Michelle Obama, and not Chris Matthews, had said Barack is a perfect husband. What does he know? Did he visit the White House while the President was out and got the quote from Michelle herself? Unlikely.

There is no such animal as a perfect husband or a perfect wife! It’s all relative. Who wants perfection anyway?

But your blog makes for entertaining, light-hearted reading, in a postmodern journalistic style. It says you’re a happy woman.
    Aren’t you?

    Best, Ben

Well Ben, Chris Matthews may or may not have interviewed Michelle, but there are others who have. Check this taken from an interview with Prevention Editor-in-Chief Liz Vaccariello: “One of the things that attracted me to Barack was his emotional honesty. Right off the bat he said what he felt. There are no games with him—he is who he appears to be. I feel fortunate as a woman to have a husband who loves me and shows me (he does) in every way.” But I can’t vouch for whether the President was at home or not when Michelle was mouthing those platitudes. And I agree with your “who wants perfection?” query. Though I’m not sure if the question is addressed to men or women. But I think most women (and men?) just want someone with whom they can be themselves, however exasperating, for the rest of their lives. To answer your rather cheeky second question, let’s just say I’m as happy as I can be. (Hee-hee!)

Now, Veena, we’re getting somewhere. Platitudes are what they are! Besides, if you’re the president of a country, which wife is going to say her president-husband is not perfect?

The “Who wants perfection?” query was addressed to both men and women.

Lastly, I too am as happy as I can be:-)

The husband doesn’t have to be perfect. But he should be loving and considerate.

    Veena,
A husband doesn’t have to perfect, but be loving and treat you right. He should
help out when you need him and vice versa. There is no perfect husband or
wife in the world. We love being together and take turns doing things. He is very considerate of how I feel and we talk over important issues each one has.

I agree Connie. Even if he’s not perfect, he should be a good husband. The same goes for the wife too of course.

Enjoyed reading “The perfect husband” which in reality is all in the mind. The right things the doll says at the push of a button sure would do wonders to any relationship. However, being a good person, meeting each other’s needs, being loving, kind, compassionate and caring is at the heart of what it means to be a good husband or wife!

    • veena says:

Yes Maria, a ‘perfect’ husband or wife can only exist in an ideal world, not in the real one. But showing you love your partner, by way of words or deeds, but preferably both, is important for a happy relationship.
